Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or case number entered into a search tool is sent to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies any results. Stokes County Court Docket does not keep or log those entered search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to the resource may be retained to respond to it. That correspondence remains within the operating team unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the service may receive routine technical information about the visit:
- the device’s IP address
- browser and version information
- device type and operating system
- pages viewed and approximate time spent on them
- the referring site, when one is available
- timestamps associated with page views
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device that can help measure how visitors use the resource, including which pages draw traffic and where visits end. Analytics providers may aggregate that usage data. Browser controls can block cookies, although parts of the service may then work differently.
What We Do With This Data
- operating and maintaining the resource
- routing a search request to the appropriate partner
- assessing which materials are used and need improvement
- finding and addressing service problems
- delivering advertising that may relate to visitor interests
No Court-Record Data on File
Stokes County Court Docket does not host, build, maintain, or sell a database of court dockets or personal case-record information. It provides general routing information about the Stokes County Clerk of Superior Court, Superior Court, District Court, and the North Carolina eCourts Portal. It is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not assembled into consumer reports or third-party files.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information submitted through one is handled under that provider’s privacy policy, not this policy. Each provider controls its own retention and sharing practices, so visitors should review its terms before submitting a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Clerk pages, North Carolina court portals, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor leaves this resource, the destination’s privacy policy controls. Review it before sharing personal details.
Some advertising partners may track activity across sites to deliver interest-based advertising. That tracking occurs within their systems rather than those of Stokes County Court Docket.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal information is not sold. It may be disclosed to:
- search partners that process submitted queries
- analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
- advertising networks serving placements on the resource
- government or law-enforcement bodies when a valid legal demand requires disclosure
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security practices are used to protect collected information. No internet-connected service is fully secure, however, and an absence of a breach cannot be guaranteed.
Users Under 18
This resource is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from people under 18. If a minor’s information has been submitted, contact the operator so it can be removed.
Your Data Rights
North Carolina’s court-record access rules include G.S. 7A-109, G.S. 132-6, and G.S. 132-6.2, which address court-record maintenance, inspection, copies, and copy media. They do not create a separate data-rights promise by this private resource. At a minimum, a visitor may:
- request a copy of information retained about the visitor
- ask that inaccurate retained information be corrected
- request deletion of retained information
- opt out of certain data-processing activities where applicable
Updates to This Policy
This privacy policy may change over time. A revised version will be posted here with an updated effective date.
